Question 1: If 3x + 7 = 22, what is the value of 6x – 4?
First, solve for x: 3x = 15, so x = 5. Then plug in: 6(5) – 4 = 30 – 4 = 26. GMAT often rewards solving for an expression directly rather than the variable itself.
Question 2: A train travels 300 miles at 60 mph. How long does the trip take?
Time = Distance ÷ Speed = 300 ÷ 60 = 5 hours. Rate-time-distance problems are extremely common on the GMAT Quant section.
Question 3: Data Sufficiency: Is integer n divisible by 6? (1) n is divisible by 3. (2) n is divisible by 2.
To be divisible by 6, n must be divisible by BOTH 2 and 3. Statement (1) alone doesn’t tell us about divisibility by 2 and vice versa. Together, both conditions confirm divisibility by 6.
